My name is Kathy and I am an animal nut!
My mother raised toy poodles and I was the one that loved them, cared for them, and trained them.
Mom always told me I would have a career with animals. Sadly, that did not happen and I ended up joining the Army and making a career as a civil servant. But I always had dogs and cats and I began training and showing my own German Shepherds in 1990. I have put more than 75 performance titles on my dogs in obedience, rally, agility, herding, tracking, lure coursing and dock diving. I loved working with my dogs so much I determined to make a career out of my love of animals when I retired.
I retired in May 2016 and started the Paw Patch in McAlester, Oklahoma. It was a slow start and I was mostly training but as the pet sitting took off I found I had less time for training. By the end of 2017 my pet sitting business was word of mouth only and I had transitioned my training business to another trainer in town. I had the best clients who just referred me and referred me!
I knew I was planning on relocating to New Mexico as my son, daughter in law, and new granddaughter lived in Albuquerque. I made the move to the land of enchantment on the first of March 2018 and am now starting to rebuild my pet sitting business.
I am a member of and insured and bonded by Pet Sitters Associates.
I am a graduate of the Kiamichi Vocational College pet sitting program (McAlester, OK). I am also a graduate of the Kiamichi Vocational College Veterinary Assistant program. As a veterinary assistant I am able to medicate your pets and know when they need immediate vet care. I am a graduate of Sirius Dog Training Academy online dog training courses.
I intend to serve the residents of west Albuquerque as I am residing near Unser and south of Interstate 40. I can accommodate clients west of the Rio Grande and from the Petroglyph area south to Dennis Chavez Blvd/Rio Bravo Blvd. If you are a little north or south of those parameters I can probably help you.
I look forward to serving you and caring for your fur kids!
